Danica Bansie is a Canadian music supervisor, sync strategist, and creative consultant working at the intersection of culture, storytelling, and visual media.
With 10+ years of music industry experience across music supervision, sync licensing, advertising, artist development, and creative strategy, Danica specializes in building culturally resonant and commercially impactful music partnerships across film, television, and branded media. Her work spans music supervision, creative pitching, licensing strategy, artist relations, and cross-functional collaboration with agencies, filmmakers, composers, brands, and rights holders.
Currently working as Music Supervisor at PIRATE SOUND, Danica has led music supervision and sync strategy for network television, feature films, and visual media projects across platforms, including CBC, Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Freevee, and Apple TV+.
A lifelong music obsessive with roots in independent music culture, Danica’s career has taken her across multiple corners of the industry, from writing album reviews and photographing live shows to working at Ottawa’s iconic independent record store CD Warehouse, leading digital marketing initiatives for a Canada & Hong Kong-based instrument retailer, and curating playlists and music strategies for creative projects and brands.
Shaped by years spent traveling and living internationally, Danica approaches her work through a globally minded, intersectional lens rooted in curiosity, collaboration, and emotional storytelling. She is especially passionate about championing indie and underrepresented voices.
Danica is a juror for the Polaris Music Prize, where she served as a 2024 Grand Jury member advocating for Allison Russell’s The Returner, and a member of the Guild of Music Supervisors, Canada.
